Rental company Projecson chose RCF TT+ Series for the main sound reinforcement of the Osisko en lumière festival in Rouyn-Noranda in Canada. The event held over 4 days featured a great roster of Canadian bands as well as international acts such as Simple Plan and Scottish hard rock legends Nazareth.
Headlining on day one were Canadian band Simple Plan, the young Montreal band who have already made their mark internationally by selling over 7 million albums worldwide.
Emanuele Morlini, RCF TT+ Product Specialist, flew in for the event as P.A. manager and worked closely with Projecson’s staff and with Frank Teoli of Sound Distribution Inc., RCF distributor in Canada, during the set up phase of the system which comprised TTL33-A line array modules, TTS28-A subwoofers and TT25-SMA stage monitors.
“We used the TT+ Shape Designer Software in order to set the DSP of the line array to obtain a long and evens coverage of the concert area.” Said Mr. Ghislain Petit, who runs Projecson together with Mr. Rejean Berube. ”We were very pleased with the system because we were able to load in and set up everything really quickly. Also, with its compact size, the TTL33-A covered quite a big area and the audience. For instance on the first night with Simple Plan, we had more than 20.000 people, and the RCF system worked just perfectly even after a terrible rain storm that lasted all day during the set up process”.
Installation
Maagalim, located in the city of Yavne, is one of the most prestigious events hall in Israel and was recently equipped with a complete RCF sound system.
The complex is built around a major round hall with adjacent smaller halls decorated as niches of various cultures each with its particular characteristics and decor.
Eitan Glickman of Halilit, the RCF Distributor in Israel, took care of the project. The request was for a sound system that could serve both for an entertainment purpose in the dance floor and for background music amplification in the sitting areas. The main goal to achieve was to enable different sound pressure levels for the various parts of the venue.
Through a careful programming of the RCF DX4008 Digital Sound Processor, Eitan, designed an audio installation based on a main active system supporting 4 delay zones. Thanks to this, the dance floor area has a high SPL that does not interfere with the background music for the seats that share the same open space, which have a different volume in order to allow people to chat.
TT22-A, high power two-way systems, and ART902-AS active subwoofers compose the main system for the dance floor while the other 4 zones have been provided with MQ80P, MQ50, MQ50C and MQ60H speakers. ART 7 Series subwoofers provide bass enhancement also for the bar and seats areas.
The whole project of sound & lighting was accomplished in co-operation with the Gil Teichman Company.

A versatile system for a multi purpose venue.
The Maintalhalle is situated in the city of Mainaschaff, is a multi purpose venue with a fixed stage used for presentations, theatre shows and live music.
Tony Glaab, Technical Director of Maintahalle, contacted Stage Light Sound and asked them to provide with a high performance audio system that could handle all the different kinds of performances scheduled in the venue. Stage Light Sound specified RCF’s TT+ High Definition Touring and Theatre for the complete sound reinforcement system and worked in close contact with Georg Hofmann and Norbert Wessel of RCF Germany during the design and the set up phase of the project.
The complete system, provided for Maintalhalle comprised TTL31-A compact line array and TTS28-A high power subwoofers as the main P.A., TT08-A as front fill, TT25-A placed as side fill and TT25-SMA for stage monitoring purpose.
Georg Hofmann designed the system using EASE software to provide a powerful and uniform coverage of the venue that measures 40 m depth, 7 to 9 m high and 20 to 24 m wide. “Because the hall can be divided in the middle, we had to provide a system that could be controlled in two separate sections”, explains Hofmann, “ in fact, if the hall is divided, only the 4 lower TTL31-A are used”. Norbert Wessel, achieved the start up process by using EASE Focus design software.
Tony Glaab commented: “Before we got the RCF TT+ system, all guest performances in our multi-purpose hall had to use external equipment, now we are able to offer them a fully equipped hall with a really high performance system. When we heard the TT+ system fully set up, we were really impressed by the clarity and powerful sound reproduction, even in the rearmost places of the venue”.
Alexander Poeter, Senior Chief of Stage Light Sound, said: “The support from the German RCF crew was just amazing. From the system design to the final installation we had a fantastic assistance from them.”

The video-photographic exhibition musical experimentation “Il Gesto del Suono” (The Gesture of Sound) will be hosted at Spazio Gerra in Reggio Emilia, Northern Italy from 17th of October to the 29th of November. Conceived and organized by Claudio Chianura, this touring exhibition was created in 2008 and from its inception RCF have provided the for the show’s sound.
Art Series loudspeakers from the Company, in fact, are being used to amplify the sound in the various sections of the exhibition, which involves people on three different levels: picture portraits by some of the best Italian music photographers, music, and videos chosen by the musicians.
In 2009 “Il Gesto del Suono” will have three new elements, 2.0,is dedicated to vocal experimentation, 3.0, to the instrumental and the 4.0 to the electronic music experimentation, in order to offer visitors a wider experience.
Version 2.0, on show in Reggio Emilia, is a step foreword into the size of the contemporary experimental scene and this year’s show is dedicated, to the 30th anniversary of the death, to Demetrio Stratos, one of the most greatest protagonists of vocal experimentation in modern music history.

“The thing that impressed us the most was the incredible sound definition and the versatility of the system. In fact every night we had to amplify a very different kind of music and the system worked out just perfectly”. Commented Valeria Barbini, Airone FOH Engineer. “ TT+ has all the characteristics that a system needs to handle every situation and we were able to obtain a true linear dispersion up to 60 metres from the stage, which was our objective. Therefore we did not have any feedback problem on stage.”
