UP 2162 is a device with 2 separated and independent 160 W digital amplifiers, each haveing 2 audio inputs, of which one with priority function through a closing coontact.
The UP 2162 is equipped with digital power supply (Class D). Both the audio inputs are balanced at "line" level for pre-amplified signals or music sources. The second input is equièpped with an attenuator and can be set as stereo unbalanced.
Each amplifier output is available either for low impedance loudspeakers (min. 4 Ω) or a 100 - 70 V constant voltage line (for loudspeakers equipped with 100 - 70 V line transformers).
On each amplifier: - input 1 can get the priority, which mutes the input 2, through an external command connected to the PRIOR IN.1 contact; - input 1 can be muted through an external command connected to the MUTE IN 1 contact.
Each amplifier has its (common) BASS and TREBLE tone controls. Front panel LEDs indicate the device state (ON), protections (PROT), the priority activation (PRIOR) and the signal / peak level (SIG/PK) of the respective amplifier.
With more than 60 years of audio legacy, the Reggio Emilia, Italian based company RCF has provided the professional audio industry with many successful products and total designs of complex systems to commercial applications.
One of the key factors behind the company success is the continuing investment into the research and development team, and the many years in the industry has given the company a powerful knowledge and experience, all from the electronic side to the acoustics angle. RCF is also investing a lot into research of new technologies to continue to be a leader and a reference for audio technology business world.
With this background RCF has invested in a new facility, called the RCF Audio Academy, a complex of several demo facilities, classrooms and conference areas. At the Audio Academy there is also a “Room of Sound”, a big area were different applications of audio can be set up, from standard commercial system to complex DSP controlled solutions. The Audio Academy is a perfect place for system integrators, FOH sound engineers, installers, rental and “tomorrows engineers” to participate in courses and have the possibility to learn about new technologies or get updated with the latest developments and trends.
The RCF Audio Academy is based in Reggio Emilia, Italy very close to the RCF headquarters.
“Our goal with the RCF Audio Academy is to share our knowledge and skills to the industry, and the possibility of adding value with more into deep education, and technical training in audio technology and acoustics. We also want to work closely together with universities, to give the possibility of an education course. The RCF Audio Academy is an investment for us. We feel the needs for an Audio Academy and a tutorial system with a vision, and a step forward with providing professional education, and necessary since many applications today are more complex than it was in the past ” says Fausto Incerti, General Manager of RCF.
The RCF Academy is open for the audio industry and there are frequently courses and seminars in audio segments like: Indoor Acoustics, Conference Systems, Fixed Installations, Live Events, Sound Diffusion and EVAC Systems, Design and Installations etc. The RCF Audio Academy host lectures with professional teachers from the industry and organisations, and also events headed by RCF staff and R&D department.

RCF have provided the audio system for the new multi-purpose arena the city of La Chapelle St Herblain (near Le Mans).
The New Theatre has been designed specifically for both theatre and life music performances. RCF France’s local partner Terre De Son Le Mans installed a combination of C5212 Acustica series speakers and TTS28 passive subwoofers. The C5215s were chosen for the installation to cover the different areas of the main hall. The design enables the system to cover the hall with both punchy sound and high definition.
Because the stage is mobile, TTS28 double 18” subwoofers have been chosen for their ease of movement and very compact size.
A DX4008 digital sound processor was specified to manage the global system, with different presets according to stage placement and audience size.
RCF ART525-A two-way speakers are also used for mobile sound reinforcement: these are used for special events in the magnificent flower park outside the theatre.
From the 14th to the 17th of January 2010 RCF will be showing its Pro Audio range of products at the NAMM show.
The event will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anheim, California and RCF booth will be situated in Hall A, booth 6563.

Rental company Projecson chose RCF TT+ Series for the main sound reinforcement of the Osisko en lumière festival in Rouyn-Noranda in Canada. The event held over 4 days featured a great roster of Canadian bands as well as international acts such as Simple Plan and Scottish hard rock legends Nazareth.
Headlining on day one were Canadian band Simple Plan, the young Montreal band who have already made their mark internationally by selling over 7 million albums worldwide.
Emanuele Morlini, RCF TT+ Product Specialist, flew in for the event as P.A. manager and worked closely with Projecson’s staff and with Frank Teoli of Sound Distribution Inc., RCF distributor in Canada, during the set up phase of the system which comprised TTL33-A line array modules, TTS28-A subwoofers and TT25-SMA stage monitors.
“We used the TT+ Shape Designer Software in order to set the DSP of the line array to obtain a long and evens coverage of the concert area.” Said Mr. Ghislain Petit, who runs Projecson together with Mr. Rejean Berube. ”We were very pleased with the system because we were able to load in and set up everything really quickly. Also, with its compact size, the TTL33-A covered quite a big area and the audience. For instance on the first night with Simple Plan, we had more than 20.000 people, and the RCF system worked just perfectly even after a terrible rain storm that lasted all day during the set up process”.
Maagalim, located in the city of Yavne, is one of the most prestigious events hall in Israel and was recently equipped with a complete RCF sound system.
The complex is built around a major round hall with adjacent smaller halls decorated as niches of various cultures each with its particular characteristics and decor.
Eitan Glickman of Halilit, the RCF Distributor in Israel, took care of the project. The request was for a sound system that could serve both for an entertainment purpose in the dance floor and for background music amplification in the sitting areas. The main goal to achieve was to enable different sound pressure levels for the various parts of the venue.
Through a careful programming of the RCF DX4008 Digital Sound Processor, Eitan, designed an audio installation based on a main active system supporting 4 delay zones. Thanks to this, the dance floor area has a high SPL that does not interfere with the background music for the seats that share the same open space, which have a different volume in order to allow people to chat.
TT22-A, high power two-way systems, and ART902-AS active subwoofers compose the main system for the dance floor while the other 4 zones have been provided with MQ80P, MQ50, MQ50C and MQ60H speakers. ART 7 Series subwoofers provide bass enhancement also for the bar and seats areas.
The whole project of sound & lighting was accomplished in co-operation with the Gil Teichman Company.
