Historic La Vecchia Osteria Transforms Its Sound System with RCF

In 2023, under the direction of Chef Simone Virtuani, La Vecchia Osteria transformed its entire audio system, including every event and dining space, using 49 state-of-the-art RCF Business Music loudspeakers and DMA series amplification.

Chef Virtuani reviewed the facility's requirements: 'We wanted even sound coverage in every area of the facility and the ability to handle the needs of many different clients. That meant sending audio signals from the main stage to all dining and event halls. We chose RCF and are very pleased with the outcome.'

With design help from Luca Artoni, of RCF’s Engineering Support Group, La Vecchia Osteria installed six DMA162 modules to control the facility’s 10 zones and power 24 MR 50T two-way loudspeakers with 5” woofers and 12 DM 61 outdoor loudspeakers with 6” woofers. They added 13 WMR 60T high-power loudspeakers for areas requiring more detailed and powerful sound.

Artoni, explained how the new system uses the DMA matrix amplifiers, “The system is divided into 10 zones, including an outdoor area encompassing the pool and park. We used six DMA digital matrix amplifier units with Xilica FR1 processor as the hub.”

Artoni continued, "The system stands out for its elegance, featuring two 10" touchscreens strategically placed for easy access by facility personnel and customized with the restaurant's logo. These allow operators to select and adjust audio sources for each zone and give them complete control over CD players, USB peripherals, DAB radio, and streaming audio from services like Spotify and TuneIn Radio. Some of these peripherals can be remotely controlled via smartphones. Wireless microphones and stage audio routing complete the experience, allowing guests to enjoy live music in all spaces.'

RCF's installation at La Vecchia Osteria adds to the restaurant's authentic atmosphere and enriches guests' culinary and meeting experience. Chef Virtuani commented, “The sound quality is impressive. We have perfect background music level and quality and plenty of power for high-volume performances when needed. The touchscreen interface is intuitive and easy to us, and I have full control over the entire system thanks to careful programming by RCF designers.”
