RCF and AV Matrix Power Les Misérables at Leeds Grand Theatre
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Les Misérables, Leeds Grand Theatre hosted the UK’s first licensed amateur production of the entire musical under the national “Let the People Sing” initiative. Put on by Leeds Amateur Operatic Society (LAOS) in partnership with three other West Yorkshire groups, the ambitious project drew a cast and crew of over 100 people.
RCF’s professional partner AV Matrix provided comprehensive technical production support, including an RCF sound system customized for the theatre’s difficult acoustics. The audio setup featured HDL 26-A line arrays hung in four clusters at the sides and one central rig for precise coverage, combined with TT 08-A II and TT 515-A point source cabinets, reinforced by TT+ Audio GTS 29 subwoofers in cardioid arrangement suspended above the stage, powered by XPS 16K amplifiers.
All system routing, control, and monitoring were managed via RDNet, ensuring optimal coverage, gain structure, and dynamic control throughout the venue. Most audience feedback praised the clarity and energy of the sound system.
