RDNet measures

RDNet Measure is a powerful Dual-Channel FFT Audio Analyzer able to measure Magnitude, Phase, RTA, Coherence, and Impulse response on a four-inputs real-time measurement system. Functions span from a delay finder, a multiple signal generator, and an integrated SPL meter/logger with calibration tools. The RDNet Measures window is either dockable as a tab on RDNet or a floating window.

RDNet uses an advanced signal analysis method in which the excitation signal may be independent of the measurement system.

The excitation signal can be, other than the internal signal generator’s output, the audio program of your event or music playback.

The main goal of a sound system is to have the same show experience in every seat. With a correct tuning of the system, the sound system engineer will give confidence to the mix engineer that his decisions are translating with a minimum variance to the rest of the audience.

The audio analyzer may also make suggestions you can't understand with your ears only. When your ears hear a problem, the audio analyzer will recognize it and show it graphically.

It works by capturing the output of the system and comparing it with the given input. This difference is called the Transfer Function. It tells us how accurately the system is transmitting the signal in terms of time and frequency.

RDNet Measures produces four types of data:

- Magnitude Response - Level over frequency, given in decibels. The magnitude response is the ratio of the amplitude of frequencies in the output signal to the amplitude of frequencies of the input signal.
- Phase Response - Phase over frequency, expressed in degrees.
- Coherence - Indicates noise, distortion, and measurement stability. It is an estimation of the linearity of the system.
- Impulse Response - The response of a system to an ideal impulsive stimulus in the time domain.

RDNet offers multiple means for monitoring signal levels. The value is only valid for acoustic measurements and requires calibration of the microphone sensitivity.

- Sound Pressure Levels (SPL Weighted A/C), the RMS level of pressure waves in air expressed in decibels.
- Equivalent Sound Levels (Leq), a form of time weighting that is easier to read on a display than the instantaneous sound level.
- The Sound Level Meter features an Overload Alert, and a Sound Level Logging function stores a time history of sound level measurements.
