MaxMarcus Events Puts RCF to Work Across London

From live basketball and immersive exhibitions to corporate presentations and outdoor performances, London-based MaxMarcus Events works across an event calendar that places very different demands on its audio systems.
The company provides professional audio, lighting, video, staging, equipment hire, and entertainment for corporate events, live experiences, sporting events, exhibitions, and private celebrations across London and beyond.
RCF loudspeaker systems have become a key part of that inventory, allowing the MaxMarcus Events team to configure systems for applications ranging from speech reinforcement to live music and DJ performances.
“Our work is so varied that we need audio systems that can adapt from one job to the next,” says Marcus Bond of MaxMarcus Events. “RCF gives us the flexibility to cover a wide range of events while maintaining the performance and reliability we expect.”

Courtside audio at the Copper Box Arena

Among the company’s regular projects are London Lions home games at the Copper Box Arena, where MaxMarcus Events provides audio-visual and event production supporting a combination of live sport, music, announcements and in-game entertainment.
For these events, the company deploys floor packages comprising RCF SUB 9016-AS subwoofers with NX 932-A loudspeakers, alongside SUB 9019-AS subwoofers and NX 945-A loudspeakers.

Positioned at each end of the basketball court, the systems reinforce the VIP seating areas while also providing foldback for hosts and performers.

The application requires sufficient output and speech clarity while accommodating the physical restrictions of an arena environment. Positioning must also preserve audience sight lines, making the size and placement of the loudspeaker systems important parts of the production design.

Flexible reinforcement for Treehouse London

A different set of requirements applies at Treehouse London, where MaxMarcus Events regularly supports conferences, presentations, networking events and brand activations across several event spaces.

Here, TT 515-A and NXL 14-A loudspeakers are used for speech and general audio reinforcement. Their compact format enables the production team to adapt the system to changing room layouts and event formats while maintaining a discreet technical footprint.

Max Mistry, co-founder of MaxMarcus Events, describes the NXL 14-A as “the speaker closest to the ‘Italian Swiss Army knife’”.

“We love to use these for mid-week conferences for speeches and presentations, then pop them on AX Series SUBs for disco, sometimes on the same day,” he says. “I’m yet to find a better-sounding and better-looking loudspeaker on the market.”

Supporting Timewalk at ExCeL London

For the soft launch of Timewalk at Immerse LDN, ExCeL London, MaxMarcus Events supplied audio for speeches, presentations and music within the exhibition environment.

The system combined stacked pairs of RCF SUB 9016-AS subwoofers with NX 945-A loudspeakers, while ART 910-A loudspeakers provided monitoring at the DJ booth.

In this setting, the audio system had to support the programme without competing with the exhibition itself. The configuration provided the musical reinforcement, speech intelligibility and coverage required for the launch while integrating into the wider production.

A compact system for Citypoint London

For a summer activation at Citypoint London, MaxMarcus Events faced another change of environment: an outdoor programme featuring live DJs and performers in a public space.

The company selected EVOX J11 column array systems, positioning one on either side of the performance area. The configuration provided full-range reinforcement while keeping the system footprint compact.

The outdoor setting called for equipment that could be installed quickly and provide consistent coverage without introducing unnecessary visual impact around the performance area. For MaxMarcus Events, EVOX J11 “offered a practical solution for those requirements”.

An inventory designed to move between applications

The common thread across the four projects is not a single system configuration, but the ability to move between applications. That range of applications is central to MaxMarcus Events’ approach to its RCF inventory.

For Marcus Bond, co-founder, the SUB 9016-AS is a particular favourite.

“The 9016 is my personal favourite; to have a bass unit so musical and loud with such a small footprint is borderline witchcraft,” he says. “RDNet makes warehouse prep quick and painless.”

A recent visit by the MaxMarcus Events team to RCF’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Italy also provided an opportunity to see more of the engineering behind the systems. “The visit reinforced our confidence in the brand and gave us a greater appreciation of the engineering and people behind the products we use.”
